E-supervision of an Inernational Practicum: From Tsunami Relief to the Ladies of the Club

Abstract

International placements for social work students are rewarding, challenging, and filled with unexpected experiences and unanticipated leaming. Supervision that encourages students to refiect on their thoughts and feelings, and on occasion to reframe their experiences, is a key component of international field education. This narrative describes the development of an international placement in India and subsequent e-supervision of one student, from tsunami relief work to agency practice.
