Abstract

The following narrative is a discussion of the experiences of the author's ascent into the profession of social work shortly after the passage and implementation of civil rights legislation. The beginning experiences helped shape the social work philosophy and practice of the author. The lessons leamed are the need for equality in the workplace and the impact that older workers' workplace behaviors make on impressionable young workers.
