Abstract

This is a narrative account of a journey of an individual who earned tenure while in the role of departmental chair at a teaching institution.  Reflections on why the decision to take the position are discussed, as well as reasons and insights as to how tenure was successfully earned.  Struggles in the classroom and student relationships were unique. Lastly, insight is offered for those in similar situations and connections to social work practice are made.
