Abstract

Mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI) has been called the signature injury of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. Many service members suffer lingering effects of MTBI as well as co-occurring post-traumatic stress. In a randomized controlled trial, service members sustaining a probable concussion or complex MTBI during deployment received telephone-based problem solving training. Three therapists providing the intervention share their experience engaging and learning from their interactions with service members.
