Abstract

This personal narrative reflects my experiences involving mentoring and life transitions. The narrative begins when I was a young social work student mentee, and progresses through various stages in the social work profession. It explores the influence of mentors who impacted my career path at various points in my life course: as a social work student, as a social work intern learning play therapy, as a social work educator and author, and as a practitioner. It examines the process of mentoring through the perspective of someone who has been mentored and who now aspires to successfully and formally mentor others.
