Disaster relief volunteer work: Great east Japan earthquake and tsunami

Abstract

This narrative reflects the disaster-relief experiences of a Japanese immigrant social yvorker who responded to the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami of 2011. After the overvieyv of the impacts of natural disasters and the summary of disaster-relief volunteer yvork experienced by the author, the needs of people from the disaster-affected areas in cultural and spiritual contexts as well as the heeds of disaster-relief volunteers in relation to what we can do in similar situations in the future are addressed in this article.
