Ms. Piastro has been active on the boards of directors for the Westside Center for Independent Living in Los Angeles, the Disabled Resouces Center in Long Beach, and, as a Governor appointee, served four years on the California Statewide Independent Living Council. She has been adjunct faculty in the College of Health and Human Services, at California State University, Long Beach, Long Beach, CA
