Abstract

The story of Maggie helps us to understand how social workers can fail to see the whole person and lose sight of their mission.  This reflection provides the reader with an understanding of the history and context of a hospice client who fiercely protected her independence.  If we stay true to our values, we have an invaluable place in the lives of dying clients.  In the end, if we start where the client is, we honor the values of social work and do justice to our clients.
