Tensions Amist Violence: Encountering the Everyday Revelation

Abstract

The following narrative describes the author's experience conducting an exploratory assessment project designed
to examine the intersection of Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence (DV/SV) programs and the mental health
service system in a small New England state. Although this particular project focused on the standpoint of DV/SV
program staff, it is as much her story about what she found as assessor. It was conceived as "Part J" of a larger
project. Future efforts will explore the positions of mental health staff and address the experience of survivors of DV/SV.
