Abstract

This narrative details a grad-student's experience volunteering for the Red Cross during Hurricane Rita. The
author and twelve other volunteers were temporarily forgotten about by the very agency that dropped them off at
their assigned destination—a roller-rink-turned shelter—causing them to draw upon resources that none of them
knew they had during their three-week assignment.
